Sermon outline (10/09/2016)

You bring on what you think on! Want it or not!

Philippians 4:2-9

I. You bring on what you think on, want it or not!

What’s on your mind most of the time?

Your life is the result of your dominant thoughts!

Think about what, you think about!

Thoughts become things!

Where attention, goes energy flows, and results show!

You are one thought away from a miracle!

As a man/woman thinks, so it is!

Thoughts are seeds (God is not mocked, whatever you sow/think, so shall you reap.)

II. Don’t believe everything you think.

The mind is like a garden.

Wild weed thoughts must be plucked out and replaced with flower thoughts.

Resist the devil of the mind that comes in thoughts and suggestions.

III. Guard your mind from garbage

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:-5)

You have the power of choice. You are the only thinker in your head. Take captive every thought.

A.Watch what you watch! Note the “observer effect.” Why do we love “Scandalous” reports.

Proverbs 15:14 states: (NIV) The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

  1. Watch what you listen to. Feed your faith not your fear.

  2. Learn to control your mouth. (out of the mouth comes blessings and cursing)

  3. Don’t just resist it, replace it! You can’t just resist it, you must replace it! You change a negative habit or pattern of behavior, by replacing it with a positive one. Whatever you resists, persists!

V. 8 “Finally” (Paul sums up his point)

IV. Think on (fix your mind on) these things” (Lovely and of a good report)

True- “Alethes” -- True now (sight) and later (faith).

Nobel—“Semnos”—Worthy of honor.

Just— Dikiaos”--- Proper and right.

Pure—“Hagnos”— Clean. Holy set apart for God. (Sabbath keep holy or set apart)

Lovely—“Prosphilles” --- Pleasing. That which satisfies.

Good report—“Euphemos” --- Deserving of approval. Gospel (good news) reputation. Positive legacy building activity.

Virtue—“Arete” --- Excellence

If there be any? You may have to search it out. But if there be any, think on, dwell on, and meditate on, “These things.

You are just one thought away from your destiny.
